Oran M. Roberts
United Daughters of the Confederacy®
Houston, Harris County, Texas
This flag was handmade by Major Lynna Kay Shuffield and donated to the Oran M. Roberts Chapter 440, UDC. It was presented on Saturday, 22 Apr 2006, at the grave of Adelia A. Dunovant, the founding President of the Chapter, located in the Glenwood Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
The flag was dedicated in celebration of the Chapter's 105th Anniversary and in memory of Miss Dunovant.
The saying in the center of the flag is the chapter's motto that was on the original chapter flag in 1901. A description of the chapter's original flag was found in the 1902 Texas Division Minutes.
