- REMINISCENCE-

We consider it a privilege to prepare this historic event of Allen Chapel A. M. E. Church as we continue to reminisce over the past years of our church we can say the Lord has blessed us.

Allen Chapel was organized in 1875, in the home of Bro Henry McFadden. Our church has grown greatly in the years, both spiritually and financially. We are giving praise to those who have labored and left the scene of life, and flowers to those who have followed are not laboring. This team of members for more than 97 years have joined hands and blazed a trail for this edifice; which the Lord was in power to guide us. Our present pastor Rev. J. A. Peterson came to us in 1969, he has done many timely things for our church and community. We pray that all members of the church family will continue their good work; and as soon as we get through working on THIS building we are going on to HEAVEN to get our reward.

Your Program Chairman
Frankie McDonald

OFF DUTY FOR GOD UNTIL FALL

* * *

I forgot my Lord in the summertime, just the time I was needed most, I was not away, but on each Lord’s Day, I just failed to be at my post. I forgot my church in the summertime, as I lazily lay in the bed, while the faithful few had my work to do, as I was spiritually dead. I forgot my offering in the summertime, when he needed it most of all, while my cash was spent, I was pleasure bent, just off duty for God until fall. I forgot my class in the summertime, but the devil did not forget - working day and night, but he kept up the fight, he’s a go-getter, you can bet, I forgot my soul in the summertime, got along without spiritual food, but ingratitude. If my Lord should come in the summertime, when my duty to God I am free, wonder what I’ll do, when my life is through, if by chance, He should forget me?

THOUGHTS TO REMEMBER
HOW TO RECEIVE GOD’S GUIDANCE

Spiritual harmony attunes the seeker to the mind of God from which guidance comes. The Bible emphasizes that the presence of Christ may be more deeply and felt when spiritual fellowship is attained. – “For where tow or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)

THOUGHTS FOR YOUR FUTURE

This is a hard exercise but extremely important in developing a spiritual life. Resentment, ill will, the grudge, hate; these a sickness of the personality. Neither the mind nor the soul or even the body can be fully healthy when such diseased attitudes are eating away at the life.
