MEETING: Thursday, December 5th, NBC Bank Community Room, 7 p.m. with Dr. Lucile Estelle as speaker. We will have a buffet before the program with each member bringing their favorite Christmas snack or sweet.

“SOME CENTRAL TEXAS OBITUARIES” - At last the MCGS’s book, SOME CENTRAL TEXAS OBITUARIES, will be ready for sale within the next few days. The proposal was made, seconded and passed at the November meeting to send it to the publisher. It is a soft cover book, the cover is laminated and it has a spiral binding. It has 621 pages and over 4,000 obituaries. The price will be $57.50 including shipping and handling. There have been ads in the local newspaper for the past 2-weeks. The book may be ordered by mail. We all need to work to sell this book as this money will enable us to add some needed reference materials to the genealogy section of the library.

NEWSLETTER CHANGE: At the business meeting in November there was a change to the by-laws concerning the publishing scheduled of The Legacy newsletter. It will be published bi-monthly (every other month) beginning with the January 1997 issue. This should give more time to get all the news together and include much of the information from the Internet.

NEW MEMBER: Kay Pacheco, HCR 4, Box 517, Beeville, Texas 78102 - Would like to exchange information for anyone reaching the Pond, Tuttle or White families.

QUERY: Louis Bruton, 703 Overhill Dr., Kerrville, Texas 78028 - She wrote asking about a typhoid epidemic in Milam Co. in 1850-52 and for information on Alfred Standifer.

QUERY: R. Bangsund < rlaneb@www.com > - Wrote regarding: James Nance & Celia Rebecca Allen, Sam Smith & Frances Sullivan lived in Cameron ca. 1860. James was an officer in the Confederate Army. His son Josiah C. Nance married Eva Smith.

QUERY: Rhonda Stewart < 71602.1623@compuserve.com > - Searching for descendants of Willie Reisner & Magdalene/Maggie/Martha (?) Kwiatkowski who moved to Cameron, Milam Co. from Washington Co. during the 1920s. She is researching the Kwiatkowski family.

“COLLECTING DEAD RELATIVES” - This book, by Laverne Galeener-Moore was loaned to me by Clois Green. (Clois and wife, Nettie, have recently returned from a Salt Lake City research trip.) It is a very funny book with some hysterical situations in cemeteries, libraries, courthouses and all the other places you will find serious genealogists. For some good laughs, I recommend it, Marie Hubert.
