Meetings: 7:30 p.m., 1st Thursday of each month at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library

At our December meeting, we agreed to change the time of our meeting to 7 p.m. The library staff requested that we finish before the 9 p.m. closing time. Charles Hubert appointed a nominating committee of Florecne McDaniel, Bob Martin & Lucille Towery to present a slate for election at the January meeting. The new officers will be installed at the February meeting. Charles also appointed a steering committee of Rusty Thomas, Jon Cook, Peggy Wright & Gloria Martin to formulate 1996 goals and objectives for the society.

As a result of our society being listed in the July-August 1995 Genealogical Helper, we received the following:

QUERY: Ann McGuffey, 1805 Taylor St., Cedar Hill, Texas 75104 - Looking for information about the HILLYARD or HILLIARD, GRAHAM, CARLTON or SCARBROUGH families. James Hilliard and Keziah Mills came to Milam Co. abt. 1850. Their children: Thomas, William, John Milton, Landen & Edney. James and Kezia are buried in the McCann Cemetery. Reuben Graham and Nancy Roberts also came to Milam Co. abt. 1850. Their children: Mary Jane, Christian Elizabeth, Sarah Miranda, Martha Angeline, Daniel Washington, Charles Robert, Rebecca Demarious, Nancy Ann & Amanda Texanna. Reuben is buried on the Cofield (sic) Ranch and Nancy is buried in the McQueen Cemetery, both in Milam Co. John Henry Carlton, son of Saletta Scarborough, is also buried in the McCann Cemetery. A Thomas Scarborough (b. 1846 in LA) is buried nearby. Is Thomas related to Saletta? Is Saletta Scarborough also buried in an unmarked grave in the McCann Cemetery?
