Mrs. Mildred Maker was the speaker at our October meeting. She brought a collection of the results of her years of genealogical work and recounted several serendipitous events that had happened in the search for ancestors for her and her husband.

Our speaker for the Dec. 9th meeting will be Mrs. Karen Thompson, Vice-President of the Martin Wells Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT).

In the basket:

From Marcy Jones, a copy of her completed application for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Interesting Advertisements:

Georgia Families: A Bibliographic Listing of Books about Georgia Families by Donald M. Hehir. This book contains over 1,100 Georgian surnames and is a comprehensive listing of all printed Georgian genealogies that have made their way into major library collections across the United States, including the Library of Congress, the National Genealogical Society Library and the Library of the Daughters of the American Revolution, etc.

Genealogical periodical Annual Index: Key to the Genealogical Literature by Leslie K. Towle & Laird C. Towle. This book contains information that genealogists overlook thinking they are inaccessible. However, once you know about the existence of an article, you can usually purchase a back issue or photocopy from the publisher at a nominal cost. GPAI is the most comprehensive surname, locality and subject index to current English-language genealogical periodicals available. The material indexed includes genealogies, linages, Bible records, source records, book reviews, and all other material of permanent value including articles on heraldry and research methods.

In the Library:
