Pettibone is located on U.S. Highway 190, about 5-miles west of Cameron in west central Milam County.
It was a flag stop after the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway built through the area in 1881. The community is said to have been named for a railroad official. It had a population of 20 in 1933 and twenty-five in 1990.
