Women Judges of Texas

Prior to the 1970s, women Judges in Texas were very rare! Judge Barbara Rollins of Abilene is writing a history to document all women in Texas who were judges prior to 1975. This project will include municipal court, corporate court, justice of the peace, county court, district court judges, administrative judges, etc.

McQueen-Young Family Reunion

On Saturday, Aug 30th, the 10th annual McQueen-Young Family Reunion will take place at the JDL Ranch in Rogers, Texas. Word Search Games for Reunion

Create a unique "word search game" for your family reunion. Inverted Matrix has a free Word Search Creator program that allows you to choose your own words and designs. I have one created several for our next family reunion that includes names, places where the family lived, special events, etc. The person who completes the game first, will win a prize. What an interesting way to teach your family history!

Gen. Washington goes Digital!

In honor of the 4th of July the Godfrey Memorial Library is distributing free digital copies of the book, "Facsimiles of the Memorial Stones of the last English Ancestors of George Washington in the Parish Church of Brington, Northamptonshire, England, permanently placed in the State House of Massachusetts. Boston: William White printer to the state, 1862."

Clayton Library Trip

On Monday, Sept. 30th, the Caldwell County Genealogical and Historical Society (CCGHS) is sponsoring a bus trip from Luling, Texas to the Clayton Library in Houston, Texas.

The bus will leave Luling at 7 a.m. and return there about 8 p.m. Breakfast and dinner will be included in the fee: $30 per person. Registration deadline is Saturday, Aug. 30th.
